Multi-purpose Practical Satellite (Arirang) No.7A
(Under Development)
- Orbit : Low Earth Orbit
- Mission : High-resolution Earth observation
- Payload : High-resolution electro-optical camera and infrared (IR) sensor
Multi-purpose Practical Satellite (Arirang) No.7A is being developed as Korea’s highest-resolution satellite and is equipped with an electro-optical camera with a resolution below 30 cm and an infrared (IR) payload.
It features enhanced IR payload performance beyond that of Multi-purpose Practical Satellite (Arirang) No.7 and aims to domestically develop core optical components, including the focal plane electronics unit. Its IR payload is expected to push the limits of Korea’s already world-class infrared imaging capabilities, improving detection and observation performance. When operated alongside Multi-purpose Practical Satellite (Arirang) No.7, the satellite will improve revisit rates and enhance overall imaging performance.
