30th Anniversary Ceremony of KARI to be Held
□ The Korea Aerospace Research Institute disclosed that it would be holding its 30th Anniversary Ceremony at Daejeon ICC Hotel on October 8.
ㅇ More than 600 officials from the industry, academe, and R&D centers in aerospace research, including Science and ICT Deputy Minister Mun Mi-ok, National Research Council of Science & Technology Chairperson Wohn Kwang-yun, and Yuseong-gu Chief Cheong Yong-rae are expected to attend the ceremony.
※ The Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) was established as the Aerospace Research Institute under the Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials on October 10, 1989 under the provisions of the Aerospace Industry Development Promotion Act. It was spun off as KARI in 1996 and was designated as an institute dedicated to national aerospace development in 2016.
□ Despite its relatively short history compared to other advanced countries and the difficulties at the beginning of its establishment, KARI has achieved impressive outcomes in aerospace, satellite, and launch vehicles by building a sound foundation for research and development through passion and thirst for challenge for the past 30 years.
ㅇ KARI has strived to develop world-class aerospace science and technology such as cutting-edge drones, low orbit and geostationary satellites, and space launch vehicle technology and contribute to enhancing national competitiveness and improve the safety and convenience of the people.
□ During the 30th anniversary ceremony, individuals and organizations contributing to the establishment and development of KARI will be recognized, and Future Vision 2050 — which contains the plan for Korea’s aerospace development in the next 30 years — will be announced.
ㅇ Future Vision 2050 presents a total of 19 strategic goals including developing aircraft for improved mobility in daily life, developing eco-friendly air transport technology, developing space transportation technology for universal access to space, securing the activity domain on the moon, securing future space resources, solving social problems, securing navigational sovereignty, and utilizing big data-based satellite information.
□ “KARI plans to respond to the paradigm shift of the future society proactively, create and utilize outcomes that benefit the country and humankind, and challenge itself with new technologies that affect the future and humankind based on its vision of ‘Realizing the dream and new value for the sky and the universe.’ We will continue our efforts to meet the social and national expectations and open a new future for Korea,” KARI President Lim Cheol-ho said.
