The inauguration ceremony of Dr. Lee Joo-jin, the 8th President of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) was held in the conference hall of the main building on December 9, 2008.

The newly inaugurated President emphasized such goals as conducting successful national programs, achieving aerospace technological independence and pursuing industrialization/export-related global projects in his speech.

He also stated that concerted efforts should be made to develop a proactive PR program to earn public consensus and support for aerospace investment which relies upon the national budget.

“In the 21st century, those who have command of the skies and space will lead the world,” added the President. “The current situation requires Korea to make greater efforts in turning itself into an advanced country in aerospace in line with its world standing as one of the top 10 economies in the world.”

Dr. Lee Joo-jin played a leading role in the successful KOMPSAT-2(Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite-2 / Arirang-2) program and was a major contributor to the sales of KOMPSAT-2 satellite imagery.
