- New center to serve as a complete satellite information provider

The Korea Aerospace Research Institute (President: Paik Hong-yul) has reshuffled its organization and implemented personnel shifts, establishing a Satellite Information Research Center.

In a bid to boost the application of satellite information, the Korean government is planning to build a national space utilization system by linking a variety of related institutes in accordance with last June’s basic plan for space development and promotion put forward by the Ministry of Science and Technology. KARIs new affiliate will support the government project, thereby promoting the distribution and use of satellite information.

The establishment of the research center is expected to substantially advance space utilization technology, which was mainly used for processing and analyzing basic data. Dr. Lee Joo-jin, Project Director of Korea Multi Purpose Satellite 2, has been appointed as the first center director.
